The Gym Group; Memberships

Competitive research

We were planning on offering a range of memberships, alongside a new variety of term lengths. There were a variety of competitors to look into, for example Netflix, mobile phone providers, Slack - who offered a range of choices for their customers.

Wireframing

After analysing the competitors, I created a range of wireframes to explore different layout options for all the membership types and terms. There was a considerable amount of information that needed to be displayed which was difficult as there was a struggle to create a visual hierarchy.

Usability testing

Using Ballpark, I carried out a usability study with a higher fidelity design. The test was carried out with 22 participants, who were not requested to navigate through a particular route during the test. This was to allow natural digestions of information and not bias them towards a specific membership.

Four main areas of focus were identified to refine the designs based on the feedback and testing, which would further enhance the functionality.

UI Design

I created high fidelity designs, maintaining a cohesive visual identity that reflected our brand and resonated with members. It was also key, despite designing mobile first, that the designs were adaptable across desktop as well as mobile.

The designs were taken forward and developed by our external developers, and are now live on the TGG website.
